How to submit artwork.

Preparation

There are two major methods of sending digital artwork to Mark-Rite Signs Ltd. If your artwork is a combination of the two please separate it into its separate components if possible and follow the instructions for each section.

  1. The first method is usually called 'Bitmap or Raster' and the image is made up of little colored dots. This method works best with photographic type images. The program that Mark-Rite Signs Ltd. uses with this type of file is called Adobe Photoshop CC. With this program we can use all of the common file formats (i.e. GIF, JPEG, BMP, TIFF, PSD, etc.) and most of the not so common ones. For best results please make sure that the resolution of your file is high enough. In most cases, at final size, 150-200 DPI is adequate. Please be aware that images in Microsoft Office Suite, or other similar products generally are not at the resolution needed for quality work. For fairly large or fairly small projects please contact Paul for the exact specifications.
  2. The second method is usually called 'Vector Art' and the image is made up of points with straight or curved lines between. This method works best with text or simple to medium complexity images. The program that Mark-Rite Signs Ltd. uses with this type of file is called Adobe Illustrator CC2 but we also have Corel Draw 10.0 and Adobe Acrobat DC. With this section of programs we can use a wide variety of file formats, the more common ones are EPS, AI, CDR, CMX, PDF, and PUB. For those who use AUTOCAD or similar programs we can use DXF (Ver. 12) files. Please make sure that the version of the file you send us is not higher than the version of the program we have, for example please do not send us Corel Draw 11.0 files but save them as Corel Draw 10.0 files. Also please make sure that any text in your file is converted to outlines since we may not have the exact same fonts as that are in the file.
